The Traitors Dominates 2025 Critics Choice Real TV Awards Nominations With Six Nods

The Critics Choice Association (CCA) has revealed the nominations for the seventh annual Critics Choice Real TV Awards—and it’s The Traitors leading the pack once again. The hit Peacock series scored six nominations, including Best Competition Series and Best Ensemble Cast in an Unscripted Series, while host Alan Cumming is double-nominated for Best Show Host and Male Star of the Year.
A Commanding Lead for The Traitors
Fresh off last year’s award sweep, The Traitors is cementing its place as a reality TV juggernaut. With standout performances from Alan Cumming and cast members like Dylan Efron and Gabby Windey—who’s nominated for Female Star of the Year—the show continues to dominate both ratings and awards ballots.
“The Traitors” once again leads nominees after sweeping last year’s awards ceremony with an impressive four wins,” said CCA TV Branch President Ed Martin.
Other top contenders include Dancing with the Stars and Top Chef, both racking up four nominations each. DWTS is up for Best Competition Series: Talent/Variety and Best Ensemble Cast in an Unscripted Series, while breakout performer Stephen Nedoroscik and host Julianne Hough earned individual nods. Top Chef competes for Best Culinary Show and Best Show Host for Kristen Kish, in addition to Best Competition Series and Ensemble Cast.
Critics Choice Real TV Awards Showccases a Broad Spectrum of Unscripted Excellence
From nail-biting competition to deeply human storytelling, this year’s Real TV Awards nominees reflect the breadth and emotional range of the nonfiction genre. Highlights include:
Love on the Spectrum (Netflix) — Best Unstructured Series and Best Relationship Show
No Taste Like Home with Antoni Porowski (National Geographic) — Nominated in both Best Structured Series and Best Travel/Adventure Show
Queer Eye — Best Structured Series and Best Fashion/Beauty Show
Fan-favorite hosts like Jeff Probst (Survivor), Terry Crews (America’s Got Talent), and Colin Jost (Pop Culture Jeopardy!) also scored nominations for Best Show Host, rounding out a stacked category.
Expanding the Reach of Reality Recognition
Launched in 2019, the Critics Choice Real TV Awards honor excellence in nonfiction, unscripted, and reality programming across broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms. Nominees are selected by a blue-ribbon committee of Critics Choice members specializing in reality television. Winners are voted on by the full membership.
In addition to category awards, fans can vote in four key categories—Male Star of the Year, Female Star of the Year, Best Ensemble Cast, and Best Show Host—beginning May 12 at CriticsChoice.com.
