Hulu has released the official trailer and key art for its newest coming-of-age comedy Summer of 69, directed by Jillian Bell and set to premiere May 9, 2025. The outrageous, heartfelt film stars Saturday Night Live's Chloe Fineman and That '90s Show breakout Sam Morelos in a story that’s equal parts raunchy and empowering.
A Wild Plan to Win the Heart of a Crush
Summer of 69 follows Abby (Morelos), a socially awkward high school senior with a longtime crush on a popular classmate. With graduation looming, she devises a wild plan—hiring a confident, offbeat exotic dancer named Santa Monica (Fineman) to give her a crash course in seduction. What begins as a last-ditch mission to get the guy turns into an unexpected friendship between two women navigating wildly different stages of life.
The movie uses its comedic setup to explore themes of self-worth, identity, and empowerment, while delivering sharp jokes and memorable performances from a stacked ensemble cast.
A Star-Studded Cast and Bold Creative Team

Joining Fineman and Morelos are Matt Cornett (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series), Nicole Byer (Nailed It!), Liza Koshy (A Family Affair), Natalie Morales (Dead to Me), Alex Moffat (SNL), Fernando Carsa (Acapulco), Paula Pell (Girls5eva), and Charlie Day (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia).
Jillian Bell, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Liz Nico and Jules Byrne, brings her trademark irreverent humor and heartfelt perspective to the director’s chair. The film is produced by Jeremy Garelick, Will Phelps, Molle DeBartolo, Bell, Breanna Bell-Singer, Matt Skiena, Adam Goodman, and Lucas Carter.
With Bell’s comedic chops and Fineman and Morelos leading the charge, Summer of 69 promises to be one of the most buzzworthy streaming premieres of the season.
Summer of 69 releases May 9, 2025, exclusively on Hulu.
